Recipe Recap 2012

Pages 1, 2 & 3!

Here’s a look at the first few pages of my ongoing project, Recipe Recap. To make a page, I took one of the plastic pages that came in the album and used it as a template.  I traced the plastic page shape with a pencil onto my scrap paper and then I cut out the shape I traced.  A standard hole punch {a scalloped circle shape} was used to make the holes for inserting the page into the 3 ring album. After the page was cut out and hole punched, I added my pictures and embellishments.

The thing I love the most about this project is that I can use my scrap paper & cardstock, as well as use some of my tools that I don’t get the opportunity to use that often. Some of my tools, like my old corner rounder, I’ve had since I first started scrapbooking. And other tools, like the date SMASH stamp that I just got, was fun to break out & use. The SMASH stamp is sort of a library style stamp that has dates and different sayings on it. I love it so much, that I think I will be using it throughout this project!

Recipe for friendship

Today I had every intention of making my first two pages for the purse project…but as you can see, I found some cute paper in my stash that made me change direction. The outside of my plastic purse got embellished today, so the pages will have to wait until tomorrow night. In the meantime, I found this recipe that is worth sharing. Have a great week!

Recipe for Friendship

  • 2 cups of patience
  • 1 heart full of love
  • 2 handfuls of generosity
  • 1 cup of understanding
  • a dash of laughter

Mix all ingredients well. Sprinkle generously over a lifetime. Serve everyone you meet.

Recipe Recap 2012…

… Is what the tag will say that I’ll make to hang on my little plastic purse handle. Inside my pocketbook project I am going to make pages that contain snippets of what happens in my daily life.  A “recipe” page could contain some kind of keepsake from the day, or it could have a picture attached of a special social event or family get together.  My goal is to use my scrap paper, use some of my random rubber stamps, and use stickers that I see in my stash and don’t know what to do with. I was stuck on what to call this project, until Bryn Byers came to my rescue. I told him the plan I had in mind, and he gave me the great idea for the title. That was all it took to get me started!  In the months ahead, I’ll be posting pictures of my pages for my Recipe Recap. I am going to start on my project this weekend, using one of these pictures that was taken a couple of weeks ago with my wine group. I think my first page will be a “recipe for friendship”. Check back next week to see how I use these pictures in my page, or sign up to follow my blog via email on my home page. Have a great weekend!

Good things come in small packages!

A few weeks ago, I stopped by local scrapbook store {also known as LSS for those of you learning the scrap lingo} and I saw a bin marked with a sign that said something like “Last chance…when they’re gone, they’re gone”.  That sign totally grabbed by interest, so I poked around the bin and picked up this little clear purse album.  I opened it up, and it has 3 metal rings that hold 8 semi transparent pages inside. The album is small, only about 4.5″ X 6″. So, for 7 bucks this cute little purse is mine! Stay tuned to see what my new bag will hold…
