12 New Chapters

Happy New Year! I thought I would share some pictures of Christmas tags I made last year. Making gift tags and cards that are holiday themed are my favorite to make.  I don’t see my holiday rubber stamps and supplies that often since they are tucked away until a holiday rolls around. There are stamps I use that date back to the 90’s when I really started to get into papercrafting. Some of my most cherished rubber stamps are made by companies that don’t even exist any more. I know there are plenty of  cool, contemporary designs available these days but there is something that makes my heart sing when I break out my box that holds my treasured holiday stamps. It’s like seeing old friends that you haven’t seen in a long time!

I made some tags for my sister using pages torn from an old hymn book along with Tim Holtz’s Tattered Poinsettia die cuts, inks, and stencils. They were so much fun to put together!  In October, I was lucky enough to be able to take two classes taught by the super talented Tim Holtz at my favorite scrapbook store. He has such great energy and his classes are fun, educational, and encouraging. I hope what you see here inspires you to get your crafting on! Cheers to 2017 and to 12 new chapters with 365 new chances.

Social Networking

Just sharing a few pics of some papercrafting that I don’t think I’ve shown here, along with a cartoon that I love! With all of the social media available these days, I’m thinking of setting up an Instagram account just to post pictures of my creations on, instead of maintaining a website. What social network do you spend the most time on? For me, it’s Facebook and Instagram.  I think the cartoon below sums it all up – the internet has changed our world for sure! Have a great week.

Watercolored Feathers

I love my Taylored Expression Fine Feather die cuts! They are American made with thin steel and work great with my Big Shot. Six different sizes are in the package. The pictures below show what the feathers look like using watercolor paper and embossing. I used my Kuretake Gansai Tambi Japanese Watercolors – the colors are so vibrant and the application is always consistent. I also embossed the tips of the feathers with Simon Says Stamp rose gold embossing powder.

For the cards I put together, I embossed the sentiment on the front of the card so I could have plenty of room to write a note inside. I am really happy with how the watercolored feathers turned out!

Dove of Peace

I love this Stampin’ Up “Dove of Peace” rubber stamp! For the past holiday season, this was my “go-to” stamp that I just couldn’t resist using. I primarily stamped on  white cardstock using either Ranger silver tinsel embossing powder or Recollections gold embossing powder. I think using the metallic is what made the image really come to life. This stamp is so versatile – it looks great using white ink on colored paper or stamping with black ink and coloring it up.  After stamping and embossing, I fussy cut the doves out to attach to cards and tags. Silver and gold foil cardstock were used for matting. Although the stamp has a verse on it underneath the dove, which I love, I thought I would keep it simple and just use the image. For the first time in a long time, I didn’t use any Stickles, which is a rare thing for me since I am obsessed with that glitter glue! Here are a few pictures to share with you that I took with my phone. I thought it was best not to take out my 35mm camera since my crafting space was sprinkled with glitter of some sort throughout the holiday season…I hope you’re a having a great new year – Cheers to 2016!

Happy gram!

I started this card by using Eat Cake Graphics rubber stamp called “Penelope and kitty Percy”.  After stamping, I colored and cut out the image and added a banner flying behind the fish. The rubber stamp used for the banner is made by Hero Arts. I had some 6×6 paper with little fluffy clouds and sunshine that I used for the background. I attached the stamped images with foam dots for dimension. To finish it off, I added some Star Dust Stickles to the fish fins, put some liquid glass on Penelope’s eye glasses, and added a couple of blings on the banner. Hope you have a Happy New Year! happy gram

Jeepers Creepers

Here is my latest design team project for Eat Cake Graphics. When I first saw this haunted house stamp, I wanted to color the “stripes” on the house the colors of a candy corn…but I decided to go with a violet color instead. It was a simple card, I just stamped, embossed, colored, matted, and attached with pop dots to a card base. I added an orange moon above the roof by punching out a 1″ circle and using the negative paper as a moon “template”. A sponge was used to swirl in the ink color inside the circle. I have a sentiment stamp “Jeepers Creepers” that I think fits the card perfectly. I stamped the sentiment, cut it to size and stapled it on. Stardust Stickles was added for a little bling on the rooftop. And there you have it!

More Catnip!

This project was pretty simple to make. I found the clipboard frame on clearance at Michael’s (for less than a buck!) and thought it was really cute, so it became my inspiration. I love this cute little kitty stamp, since I am a cat lover. The background colors on the board of red and dark mint really drew me in, so I used complementary Copic marker colors on the kitty. After stamping and embossing the kitty, I cropped the paper to a square and corner rounded the top corners. I popped dotted it to the colored paper background. I stamped and hand cut the sentiment, attached it with glue, tied some twine on it and just clipped it on the board. A little bling was added to the collar for some sparkle, and that was it!
