Valentine tags

I came across these pictures that I took last year, and thought I would post them since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. This Stampin’Up stamp set is one of my favorites. It’s called “Greeting Card Kids” and I love that the stamps have a nostalgic look of early twentieth century children’s book illustrations. I think the set is now retired, but it contains back-to-school, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and Christmas themes. I’m always looking for an excuse to create something with these cute stamps. I have used this stamp for Valentine’s, thank you notes, and thinking of you cards and tags. Have a Happy Valentine’s Day and send someone you love a card!

Did you ever make Valentine boxes in elementary school?

This cute vintage inspired valentine box actually started out as a Christmas box…until I started thinking of fun memories of receiving valentines from classmates when I was in elementary school. Kids in the class would bring in a homemade decorated container to put valentines in that we handed out to each other. One year I made a pink papered choo-choo train out of an empty round oatmeal container. I added wheels that I cut out of a cereal box. I also added a smokestack {an empty spool of thread} complete with cotton balls to look like steam was coming out of the chimney. Isn’t it funny the things we remember from our childhood?

Maybe I will use this new box for storing all of my pretty Valentine’s Day materials, unless of course, you have a better suggestion for me!

What inspires you?

The new valentine’s box I made, totally inspired me to pull out all the rubber stamps I own with hearts in the design… along with some pink paper, scrap ribbon, Copic markers and of course, some of my favorite bling (who doesn’t love bling) pretty pearl embellishments. Valentine’s Day offers such a sweet palette of colors to pick from, that it makes it simple to use heart shapes to inspire your creative side. I made this card using my newest set of stamps, “Morning Cup” from StampinUp.
